As some of you will know from my previous posts, Juniper is not doing well. She has a chest infection, and while the medication she has been on seemed to be working, her health has taken another dive and the vet has made the call that it would be best for her to be taken in for surgery and intubated so the fluid can be drained out of her chest. As you can see, she’s not particularly happy about this:
The procedure will take up to a week, she’s going to have anti-inflammatory injections and antibiotics along with scans to see how she’s getting on, and be kept under sedation while the fluids are drained. She is small and soft and I am worried sick about her on top of my own health problems.
The problem that led to her chest infection is a pre-existing condition (she’s a snuffly baby generally) but it means that the insurance I have for her won’t cover the cost. The vet has quoted me somewhere in the region of £1000 provided it all goes smoothly and nothing else crops up in the meantime. Given that that’s about as much as I earn in a month, I could really use some help. I’m obviously not just going to let her suffer, but on top of how much I’ve already paid out trying to avoid having her go in for this it’s a lot more than I can afford right now.
If you’d like to (and are able to) help then
my PayPal is here or my ko-fi is here. I know both myself and Juni would appreciate it (as would her brother who has no idea what’s going on and keeps getting jealous of all the attention I’m giving her.
Ps: here she is cuddling her feet because it’s silly and cute just like her
Update (9th June):
I’ve just taken her in. The vet let me stay with her while she was put to sleep, and I cried a lot. She looked so soft and still and her breathing is so rattly, they said she’ll be at least five days, maybe more. Her brother keeps looking and sniffing around where she likes to hang out and I don’t know how to explain it to him. I know she’s in good hands but I’m also terrified of something going wrong.
I still don’t know if I’m going to be able to afford the full amount. I know it’s going to be at least £1000 but it’s set to be more than that and depending on how long she ends up staying/how many different things she needs I have no idea how much that’s going to be.
If you want to and are able to help then my PayPal is here or my ko-fi is here., but kind words and reassurances are just as valuable to me right now.
Thank you 💜
Update (16th of June):
She’s back! Tired and having lost some weight, but she’s back. Her breathing isn’t rattling, she’s no longer coughing and snotty, she’s sleeping a lot and drinking a lot of water and mostly wants to be left alone but I have her home and she’s doing SO much better so I’m glad for that if nothing else.
Downsides: It ended up coming out at £2250 rather than the closer to £1000 I was expecting. I paid as much as I could but I’ve deferred the rest of it and it needs to be paid by the 15th of next month so if anyone is able to and wants to help out with that my PayPal is here or my ko-fi is here but as always just people being lovely has been such a massive help and I’m so so glad she’s feeling better
