The other thing I’m routinely fucked up about vis a vis North and South is Margaret’s Big Shutdown. You know, the part right after her dad dies (and her mom has died, and her friend has been dead, and her entire life has been in shambles for months) when she just… Stops. Like she doesn’t have a breakdown, and she doesn’t lose it, she just kind of shuts down for a while and is quiet and withdrawn. Dixon makes some comment about how she handled it well and pushed through when they moved and when her mom died and when they lost hope about exonerating her brother, and then her dad dies and she just stops handling it. She’s kept herself going by taking care of everyone else for so long that when she runs out of people who need her she just kind of collapses. Anyway that’s one hell of a trauma response am I right lads?
